Counting Stars was inspired by the change of the seasons from Winter to Spring in March, the magical nature of lions and owls, and the Hum song lyric: "she thinks she missed the train to mars, she's out back counting stars." Also, Julie has found the saying "in like a lion and out like a vampire owl" to be a bit more accurate.
